April newsletter 2013
We had inspiring Youth Conference at Simatelele Church on the 24th -28th of April. Every year in April the youths in Binga have their Annual Conference and invite a few pastors to preach or teach them. 207 youths attended the conference. The conference was very fruitful because we baptized three boys and some re-dedicated their lives to Jesus. A couple of girls were set free from demonic spirits.
We had Bible Quiz from the books of Judges and Galatians. It was boys versus girls. The girls won the quiz. It was fun and awesome. I like bible quiz because it makes our youths read more and acquire more knowledge about the Bible.
Also we had general discussion on the last session of our last day. Some questions were very thoughtful and challenging. One boy asked a culturally based question saying, “Why do boys pay bride price? If it is a way of thanking the girls’ parents, then girls should also pay bride price for thanking their in-laws for marrying the boys.”
I am very appreciative for the kisndness and generosity of IDES Org. for their continued drought assistance. We did our second food delivery on the 20th of April to the Churches in Lusulu. The brothers and sisters in Christ were very excited and thankful for mealie-meal. People have harvested very little because of inadequate rain, birds and elephants. I hope that the attendance and baptisms in the Churches will increase as food aid continues.
I am expecting to receive 3 filter molds form Harare this week and to be delivered to Siadindi. This is exciting news to the project members. They will be able to mold five filters a day. After the Leaders’ Meeting on the 13th-17th I will be in Siadindi for several weeks working on the project.
Blessings
