Dear Friends in Christ
I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. It is surprising how different people celebrate Christmas. To some people it is a special day for fighting. I saw more than five people who have been stabbed with sharp knives after eating, drinking and smoking. One was mercilessly stabbed to death. I realized we still have a big job of teaching people what Christmas means. s
Many Churches in Siadindi were unable to gather together and celebrate the birth of our Savior in the world. They usually make some contributions of money and food, but were unable because of hunger. I hope this year will be a prosperous one as we are receiving enough rain. I pray that it won’t be excessive to an extent of destroying crops.
Bio-Sand Water Project.
I and the team for the Bio-Sand project are very excited that we now have all the materials we want for the project. On our meeting we agreed to discontinue molding filters this wet season and concentrate working in the our fields. We will commence molding filters in April 2013. Also we agreed to sell the filters at an affordable price for both the poor and the rich. The reason behind selling the filters rather than just donating is to be able to buy more cement and other materials. We will be selling each filter at $20 while the pocket of cement is $14. All schools and clinics will be given a filter for free. I am glad that a clinic, pre-school and primary school have filters so far. Only a secondary school is to be given yet.
I also visited all the team members who have filters to inspect the filters and find out how helpful they are. I asked the chairperson how helpful his filter was/is to his family. He said his filter was not only helpful to his family but also to his neighbors. He enjoys drinking sparkling clean water. His youngest child usually suffered from diarrhea which he suspected was caused by drinking dirty water. Since he started drinking clean friendly water he has not suffered from diarrhea.
Thank you all for supporting this project which has brought new life to Siadindi people. Indeed, cleanness is close to holiness. I hope you will continue to support the project as need arises.
