February Report 2015
Co workers in Jesus’ Kingdom
There is a Preaching Summit which is held in Harare every year in February. This year it was on the 23-27 February. Mr Zebedee Tongarepi who was once a professor at Zimbabwe Christian College(ZCC) and is currently a Missionary in Chiredzi is the facilitator for the preaching summit. 140 pastors attended the Summit. Most of these pastors are the graduates of ZCC. We had 4 Guest Speakers from the States. We had great discussion from the early chapters of the Book of Revelations. Also we were taught Homiletics once again. I think as pastors it was very important to do Homiletics in order to re-sharpen our homiletic principles and skills. Also we had a long debate on “Mass Prayer” ie praying aloud together as a group or Church. I don’t know whether this is an issue in the States. Some said mass prayer is unbiblical, therefore, it can not be implemented in our Churches. Others based their argument on experience and said it is a very powerful and effective prayer. Someone imagined that praying aloud together is like a sweat smell to God from His Children. There was no unanimous agreement/conclusion.
After the Preaching Summit I went to Bulawayo and visited one of our Churches. Njube Church was planted 3 years ago. I was so impressed with its consistent growth. This year 15 people were baptized. I was given an opportunity to preach on a Sunday Morning Service. I preached on “Walking in the newness of life.” Among the people who came up front at the out call, a young lady was delivered from an aggressive demon. Biblical counseling was given to her so as to maintain her deliverance. I was given a love offering after the Service. I was hesitant to take it but the Elder said, “Please accept our gift, your visit is a great blessing to us.”
The following morning I went to town to buy soccer balls and boots for Timothy. Timothy likes playing soccer. While he was in the States he played soccer under David Like’s coaching. Timmy continued communicating with his coach and shared his experience here. Timmy’s school has over a 1000 students and has only 2 soccer balls. They play soccer bare footed. David was moved by the Spirit to donate $300 to purchase 5 soccer balls and 5 pairs of boots. Timmy likes sharing. He will give some of the balls and boots to school. The Sandu family is very appreciative for David’s support. We pray for some blessings upon David and his family.
While I was in Harare, I had an opportunity to go to the industries to buy hose pipe for water project. I bought 51metres at $102. I will be buying cement as we resume our project in May/June. This year I will commit myself much on the project. I realized that my group needs close supervision. Again, I thank Tonga Ministries, and other Churches for supporting the water project. Thank you all for your donations toward my Ministry in Zimbabwe.
