Have a blessed month
Alec
I have been asked by Hwange Church to teach them on the First book of Peter. Hwange Church meets on every Tuesday and Friday for Bible Study and prayers. I read a few commentaries on the book of Peter to better prepare myself for discussions. I have been very impressed with active discussions. We took much of our time discussing about, “Suffering for doing what is right.” I realized that the church had little knowledge about Christian persecution, so I talked about the persecution of the Apostles under Nero. Some became terrified and on the other hand there was recommitment to the Lord and willingness to imitate the faith of the early Christians.
I have a friend who is a Christian and a war vat. He is quite an experienced driver. His truck had worn out wheel bearings on one of the front wheels. He asked me to buy him wheel bearings in Zambia of which I did. We found a mechanic who would fix the bearings. We put much of our confidence and trust in that young man as he had just finished his mechanics from college. As he put the bearings he discovered that the big nut had worn out threads and returned it. He did not tell us. With all our confidence we drove to town for small shopping. We came to a small hill and the driver engaged to low gears. All of a sudden we heard a terrible sound and both of us thought the wheel busted. As the driver pulled off the road I saw the wheel running fast way ahead of us. It was the very wheel which was just fixed 30 minutes ago. My friend was furious and shivering at the same time. He said to me, “I had great confidence and trust in this young man.” I said to him, “Sometimes we often put our confidence and trust on wrong people and wrong things.” As Christians we need to put our full trust on the Lord. On that Sunday my sermon was, “Putting Our Trust In God.”
