January-February report – 2019

I began the New Year 2019 by visiting some of my Churches which are a little bit far away from Hwange where I reside. I do not occasionally meet with them. Njube Church in Bulawayo City is one of the Churches I visited a couple times in January and February. I had great desire to fellowship with them and to hear their spiritual and physical needs. I believe God has a solution to every problem. The Church is growing very well. It has an attendance of 110. They seem to be crowded in a small classroom. They need more space. I advised them to apply for a Hall from Bulawayo Municipality Council. That very week I began lessons there was National Shutdown. I have never witnessed what I saw. There was no transport. I saw tires burnt on roads, smoke rising to the sky like smoke from a burnt offering to Heaven. Big stones were put on roads to stop vehicles from travelling. People began looting and destroying targeted shops. Some cars were set on fire. There was intervention of police and military army to stop violence. It was scary! I started to receive some calls from the family and other brethrens to leave Bulawayo and come back to Hwange, unfortunately there was no transport until the Shutdown was over. I came back to Hwange and returned to Bulawayo in February to fulfil my goal. February was very peaceful and everything seemed to have normalised.
My wife is not feeling well. She has chest pains. She is finding it difficult to do her daily routine duties. In January I had taken her to Livingstone, Zambia for further medication. She had felt much better and I see a need to take her back. May you please remember her in your prayers. Obey continues to grow well. He is now active Sunday school. He recites scriptures and dances well in a Choir. He is now a 7th grader. He loves School and is determined to pass Grade 7 National Examination. Timothy is a Kombi driver and a holder of class2 drivers License. He drives from Hwange to Binga almost every day. He is a popular driver. Chilengwa has finished her ‘O’ Level education and has passed 10 subjects. She is now doing ‘A’ Level studies in Hwange. She desires to do Nursing after High School. Much thanks to Monika Faes who had taken the responsibility of paying school fees for Chilengwa.
The Hwange Ministers Fraternity had organised a Prayer Day praying for Hwange and Nation as a whole. We prayed for quite a number of things such as National dialogue to be fruitful and economic hardships. We had invited local politicians from the Ruling and Opposition Party and other Stakeholders from Hwange. It was good to worship with them and to air out our desires for the nation. I was so excited to see the political leaders of different parties hugging each other perhaps for their first time. They really appreciated the initiative taken by the pastors and requested to continue planning such events. Politicians do not need our physical support only but our spiritual support too. They need to be God- fearing leaders to lead God’s people.
