July 2012

Hi
I have been always worried about my village drinking contaminated water from unsafe water sources. Many people get sick from diarrhea, typhoid, dysentery cholera and bilharzia. In 2008 there was an outbreak of cholera nationwide. About 4000 people died.Having talked to my dear brother David about this situation, he introduced me to pastor Fred who knew Del and Suzzie who train people on Bio-sand water filters. Del and Suzzie were willing to come over to Siadindi and trained 28 people. Getting some necessary materials for the project in Vic.Falls and Hwange wasn’t easy. Finally we went to Zambia to buy them and to borrow two filter molds. We were thoroughly trained for a week. We have so far molded 17 filters and donated two to the clinic and to the school. They are enjoying drinking sparkling clean water. The challenge we are facing currently is that the two filter molds will be returned to Zambia this week. This means the project will stop until we buy our own molds. We are so determined to get the project going. Our goal is that each household, clinic and school should at least get one filter to provide safe and clean water. In order to maintain and fulfill our goal, we need the following materials or funding:
1). Two filter molds ($450 each)
2). Cement ($14 per bag)
2). Pipe or Tubes
There was Women’s Annual Conference at Siachilaba from 27 June to 1st July. This is their annnual conference where all women from three districts come together. This has been the most inspiring and an outstanding conference. 400 women attended the conference. They managed to raise enough funds to purchase two oxen, 18 goats and many bags of mealie-meal. Just a few pastors have been chosen to assist women with praying for the sick, demon-possessed and counseling.
We had Pastors’ Meeting in May and June to come up the program for the year. Our revivals and church planting will continue. My goal is that in the next two years we should be having many churches in the whole of Binga District. I hope this will come true as long we don’t get any disturbance from elsewhere.
Pray for our goal to succeed in the Lord.
Blessings
Alec
