March, 2012

Hi Friends in Christ
As a pastor, I really like welcoming visitors in the Church. But on the 4th of March I had unwelcome visitor who disturbed the whole Sunday Service-it was a snake. While I was in the midst of preaching, a venomous snake emerged from the thatching grass on the roof. Everyone saw it and were  unrestless. I stopped preaching and quickly got outside to get a long stick. As the snake was coming down from the roof I hit it right on its head and died. People still constantly raised their eyes on the roof to see if there was another one. I don’t know how many of you would feel free to worship God in such a Church building which sometimes becomes an inhabitant of snakes.
You probably still remember that when we had a Revival at Siadindi six people had surrendered their lives to Christ as their personal Savior, but because of water crisis could not be baptized. On the 11th of March I baptized Seven. We were so fortunate that we had enough rain and rivers flooded that week. I am so pleased to see how my Church is spiritually and numerically growing.
We had Men’s Retreat in Hwange town from 15th to 19th March. This was the first Retreat for all men from Binga, Hwange, Jambezi and Bulawayo. We were 46 all in all. This was a very good number for a start. At the end of the Retreat, it was decided that we continue to have Men’s Retreat every year in March. The Retreat was very powerful and inspiring. There was revival and new commitment to our Churches and families. I received many comments after teaching such as, “We now have a leader”, “The Church of Christ has now revived,” “Excellent lessons.”  The Retreat ended up by officially appointing and anointing me as a Director of Churches of Christ in Binga, Hwange, Jambezi and Bulawayo. There was great joy in Hwange Church where people were dancing, singing, whistling and ululating over my ordination. I look forward to God’s wisdom and knowledge in leading His Churches.  Also I pray that God will keep me humble but effectively work for Him.
The Food Distribution to the Churches continues to go well despite of corn shortages and increase of prices. On our last delivery around 2 O’clock in the morning the truck came out of road because the driver was tired  and sleepy because of driving the whole day.  It was too scary. We finally slept on the way. We are expecting our last delivery in April.
