October newsletter with photos 2013
Entumbane Church is one of our Churches which has been established for many years in Bulawayo. The Church faced leadership problems and finally divided. Three quarters of the Church left. Both Churches had not forgiven each other and could not fellowship together for the past 3 years. I and other 3 pastors went to Bulawayo on the 10th and had counseling session on the 12th of October. After 4 hours of discussion both Churches agreed to forgive each other and promised to visit one another. A week later, the Mother Church decided not to visit the other Church or to invite them as per agreement. The pastor, in particular, feared that the remaining members might leave the Church and join the new Church.
I had Leadership Seminar from 22nd to 26th of October. The seminar required all pastors, elders, deacons and their wives. The seminar was very interactive and productive. The elders and deacons requested me to have more lessons on the roles of elders and deacons in the Church. What I sensed is that there is no boundary on the role of leadership. Also I received a special request from Zambia that I should teach them on the use of instruments on Worship Service or on Crusades. They are receiving strange teaching, most probably from the Non Instrumental Church of Church, that the use of instruments in worship service is not Biblical. I will be having the Zambians here in Zimbabwe in March 2014.
The Seminar was interrupted by sudden death of a deacon’s wife who was bitten by a poisonous snake. She died before she was even taken to the hospital.
Food Project
The late Mr Munsaka resided in Mabula Village. He hated Christianity because he was firmly grounded in Ancestral worship. His wife and children loved Christ and always desired to be baptized, but Munsaka could not allow them to be baptized. Hunger continues to be a threat to many families. Mr Munsaka became a hunger victim. He struggled to get food for the family. Sometimes they would have only one meal a day. After we delivered mealie-meal, Mr Munsaka saw his wife and children carrying each a 10 kg of mealie-meal, he was very excited and changed his mind about Christianity. He realized that the Church is not only helpful on spiritual needs, but on physical needs too. He and his family repented and got baptized. Unfortunately, two weeks later Mr Munsaka passed away. I am glad that he died as a christian. 13 people have been baptized in all the Churches we have delivered food.
Water Project
We are in Summer, the hottest season of the year. This is the season we have water crisis. Most dams, wells and shallow boreholes dry out. Many people get up early in the morning to queue for water. It becomes turf for those who have domestic animals because they have to draw enough water for them. This has affected my group for water project. They now work twice a week, but are still determined to finish the work. They will definitely be done by mid November.
