August Report, 2017.
August has been one of my busiest months with District and National conferences. I attended National Pastors’ Conference which was held at Somabhula Christian Center in Gweru. It was indeed worth attending that meeting. As Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” I was so inspired, encouraged and exalted through the great lessons from other vibrant speakers. Besides being blessed by lessons, I was happy by the emphasis on unity and co-operation of leaders at a national level.
I also attended national conference for all of our Churches in Zimbabwe. The conference was inspiring and fruitful. One of the things which inspired me was worship service. Every time we sang worship songs I really felt exalted in spirit. I could feel connected with my Lord. The other thing I liked about conference is that it enabled me to meet with my old friends I met at College. It was exciting and motivating to share how each and every one is being used by God in the ministry. I was amazed at some pastors how they have advanced in their theological studies. It is good to adequately prepare ourselves for the ministry and then spend the rest of our lives serving the Lord. One thing I did not like for sure about the place was the weather. It was very cold. I did not expect such a cold weather in August. I was badly affected. I got terrible flu, cough and headache. I did not enjoy the last two days of the conference.
We had our August Annual Conference in Binga as from 24 to 27. I was fascinated with the turn up of attendance which was about 400. It was a pity that some were unable to come due to financial restrictions. We had three Guest Speakers mainly from Harare. They were vibrant speakers. Everyone was so blessed. The singing was great and glorifying to God. I had one topic which I presented and spent much of my time on counseling. I realized that young couples still need more lessons on marriage. There is still a lot for them to learn about each other. One time I went to bed at 12 midnight trying to help a couple where a husband was jealous of his wife. I was happy that at the end they were able to forgive each other.
School holiday is over. Students will be going back to their various Schools. While I and Ellina were preparing for our kids-school fees, money for transport and stationeries, Chilengwa came up with a list of things she needed at School. In her list she did not include groceries. We asked her why she did not include groceries this term. She said she will eat what the School will provide. We were not satisfied with her answer and we looked bothered. She finally said, “This term I would like spent much of my weekends on fasting and praying. Food in my room will be a temptation. This term I promise to come up with better results.” Chilengwa is doing well at School. Last term she wrote 12 subjects and passed them all. She wants a series of A’s. She is, in fact, a prayerful girl.
